Tardis Time!

It’s two weeks till we go and time seems to have speeded up.

Most of the domestic things we must do before we go are done. The van is in better shape than she’s been for a long while. While work is manic for both of us, the number of days left now in single figures.

The world feels surreal as we contemplate the abyss in front of us. The feeling may come from the fact that it’s been forty years since I’ve had time to just travel. And ten years since the last time I had more than a couple of weeks off.

When I asked Juliet how long was since she’d traveled she replied she has never travelled to Azerbaijan in a van.

The doubt is creeping in. It’s just two weeks till the vans first test – a day trip to Maastricht. After that Bonn beckons and then nothing. Nothing but uncertainty. Nothing but the worry of how far we will travel before break downs begin.

However with all that’s there there’s also a feeling of measured excitement. Excitement that we are heading into the unknown. In to places we’ve never been. We will be learning languages we’ve never heard. Seeing the world through fresh eyes, that only come from travel in the unknown.

As I say these things I tingle in anticipation.
